DJ Young Richard

DJ Young RichardYoung Richard was born in Brooklyn and raised in the boogie-down Bronx.
It was a time when roller skating, and break dancing were first introduced to New York.
His first influences besides these fresh new cultures were Freestyle music along with the 1980′s New Wave and Alternative & Industrial sounds that were imported to America. While being a self taught photographer, and deejay as many starving artist in the New York melting pot of gold, his first deejay residences were in the middle of 1990′s Club Kid Culture. The Make-Up Room was the only party to be at and the music was a style created by Young Richard himself. His photography tells the stories of the characters that lived this scene in this peroid of time.
The sound was underground and a range that was influenced by his past. It ranged from tribal to dark minimal beats, to acid to dubby sexy vocals and whispers all pulsating to a simple strobe light and siren, that was the Make-Up room experience.
Young Richard also has the been the openning act for many artist as Bjork, Nine Inch Nails, The ORB & Clive Barker… Height 611 productions (by Young Richard & The Late Peter A.) was a new version of hard house meets industrial sounds and bass heavy kicks with subs that that filled all of the main rooms of the club scene. X-beat was a new sound with the kick being 3/3 rather than the traditional 4/4 pattern. Producers like Gomi, and Junior Vasquez were also credited for this new sound in club land.
In 1999 Richard escaped from New York, and has been still producing tracks, and playing in high end Fashion events, and for artist showcases as in New York.
